Institute for Tourism Development Research (ITDR) is an affiliate of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Established in 1988, ITDR is functioned to conduct research, and outline strategies; planning, mechanism, and policies relating to the management and development of tourism to help the State in its management over the tourism industry.
Conducting scientific research and developing technologies in service of tourism; providing scientific, technological, and consultancy services regarding tourism development. Formulating tourism strategies, tourism planning, master plan for tourism development; programs, action plans and projects.
Developing or participating in developing the system of standards and economic-technical norms for tourism sector; solutions to enhance the effectiveness of state management and business performance.
Cooperating with individuals and organizations inside and outside the country to carry out scientific studies on tourism.
Organizing post-graduate training in tourism, joining with universities to undertake undergraduate courses on tourism; and taking part in delivering courses to refresh and improve tourism management capacity.
Providing information on tourism science; editing and publishing publications and scientific and technological research on tourism to popularize the outcomes of tourism-focused scientific and technological research.
