VITM Hanoi 2019 Opening Ceremony

On March 27, at the International Exhibition Center, Friendship Culture Palace, the Opening Ceremony of Vietnam International Travel Mart – VITM Hanoi 2019 was held, with the theme of “Green tourism”. Attending the ceremony, there were Government and high-ranking officers of state management agencies: H.E. Mr. Vu Duc Dam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of State Steering Committee for Tourism; H.E. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; H.E. Mr. Nguyen The Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of Radio The Voice of Vietnam; H.E. Mr. Hau A Lenh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman – General Secretary of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of ministries and 47 provinces and cities nationwide; Representatives of 27 countries and territories in Viet Nam and leaders of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Vietnam Tourism Association.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and comrade Nguyen Van Binh, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Economic Committee sent congratulatory flowers.

Vietnam International Travel Mart, under the theme of “Green Tourism”, aims at responding to the 2030 sustainable development strategy set by the United Nations. Accordingly, tourism businesses will have the opportunity to introduce green tourism products through the promotion of ecotourism products, community-based tourism, agriculture tourism and initiatives in environmental protection, responding to climate change.
VITM 2019 had 500 booths, including many large-scale and beautifully decorated booths such as the ones of Korea, Taiwan, Vietravel, Hanoitourist, Hanoi Redtours, Vietnam Airlines, Saigontourist, Vinpearl… Besides, more than 40,000 cheap air tickets and over 18,000 special discount package tours were offered. Road shows and programmes were introduced on domestic and foreign tourist destinations, together with other side-activities like international street food festival, cooperation agreement signing ceremonies and art performances.

Notably, VITM 2019 also conducted nearly such 20 highlighted events as follows: Green Tourism Forum; Awarding ceremony to honor individuals and outstanding tourism businesses in 2018; Seminar “Vietnam Tourism with Industrial Revolution 4.0″, Forum ” Vietnam Tourism Outbound – Opportunities and Challenges”; Festival on tourism students dramas for the first time “Tourism towards the future”; Press conferences of the Embassy of Bulgaria and Italia to introduce two European Cultural Capital cities and Travel Advisory Board’s on the Establishment of Competitiveness Index for tourism destinations in Viet Nam, among other activities.
