    Objective

    The goal of the project is to determine a comprehensive and long-term orientation about marine, island and beach tourism to 2020, contributing to making marine tourism as a key sector of marine economy in 2020. The strategy is in line with the objective of Resolution 09/NQ-TU dated 09/02/2007 of the 4th meeting of the 10th Party Central Committee about Vietnam Marine Strategy to 2020, and the goal of tourism contributing significantly to socio-economic development of the country.

    Limit of the research

    Territorial limit: seas and islands (including the Paracels and Spratlys) and the coastal areas of 28 provinces and cities.

    Time limit: This scheme covers the 10 year period from 2011 to 2020, some problems require the vision of development to the next 30 – 50 years.

    The collected and analyzed data are from 2000 to 2008.
