  • Conference on the Master plan for tourism development in the Mekong river delta region to 2020, orientation to 2030

       On April 5th 2017, in Can Tho City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Can Tho City People’s Committee held a conference to announce and implement Decision 2227/QD-TTg dated November 18th 2016 by the Prime Minister approving the master plan for tourism development in the Mekong River Delta region to 2020, orientation to 2030.

       Attending the conference were Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism; Mr. Le Van Tam, Standing Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Can Tho City; representatives of the 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region; leaders of Department of Tourism, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Mekong Delta region; Department of Tourism of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City; central and local organizations; Tourism Association of the Mekong Delta region; researchers, experts in the field of tourism; travel agencies, media agencies.
       The conference disseminated the basic contents of Decision No. 2227/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. Representatives of the Institute of Tourism Development Research, the organization in charge of the master plan, presented and clarified the contents and solutions to implement the master plan. Participants then discussed, commented and approved the implementation plan of the master plan to ensure practical, meaningful and effective tourism development in the Mekong Delta region.

       At the conference, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that the cities and provinces in the Mekong Delta region need to strengthen their regional development cooperation and to fully utilize the resources, in order to diversify tourism products, improve the quality of services, creating a highly competitive tourism brand in the Mekong River Delta region
